I am sure this will be widely reported, but Kzero have put up their forecast for the growth of the major virtual worlds for next year. It makes interesting reading.
Reading the press, you might be forgiven for thinking that Second Life is the biggest virtual world out there, so you might be surprised by the current size of Club Penguin, let alone its forecast of 30 million residents next year. Whilst Second Life’s numbers are forecast to also double, it will still lag 10 million behind Club Penguin.
The other world I’ll be watching with interest is HiPiHi, as it goes through a massive growth spurt next year. With many similarities to Second Life, particularly around resident created content, then it will be great to see what new ideas come out of this explosion of both growth and creativity.

mmm, but I think that the industry is being very coy about the number of unique users it has.
I’d also like to hear the evidence to support why great numbers of people should suddenly flock to virtual worlds in 2008.
